Four members of the Butler Area Equestrian team qualified for the Zone 2 Finals
at Alfred (N.Y.) University.
The hunt seat riders will show March 27. Carissa Chilcott will compete in Future
Intermediate Flat while Katherine Holupka and Miranda Stoner will compete in
Junior Varsity Beginner Flat.
If they place first or second, they will move on to the national finals in Atlanta.
Western riders will show March 28. Chilcott will compete in Future Novice Horsemanship
and Taylor Garvin will compete in Varsity Intermediate Horsemanship. The top
three riders move on to the national finals.
Butler's team competed in its final two regular season horse shows recently.
At Stonegate Farm in Coolville, Ohio, Sarah Stovar placed fourth in Junior Varsity
Novice Fnces and fifth in Novice Flat.
Shannon Stovar also placed fifth in the Future Novice Flat. Jamie Mager was third
in Future Novice Fences and sixth in Future Novice Flat. Chilcott was fourth
in Future Novice Fences.
In a show Butler hosted at Alfred University, Chilcott placed first in the Future
Intermediate Flat class while Mager was sixth in Future Novice Fences and fifth
in Future Novice Flat. Butler Area Middle School finished a season-high third
out of 12 teams.
Emily Teague led the high school students by placing third in the Junior Varsity
Beginner Flat class. Holupka placed fourth and Stoner fifth.
