Butler’s baseball team earned a much-needed
section victory Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Tornado plated six runs in the
top of the second inning and never trailed in a 9-7 Section 1-6A triumph over
Central Catholic at La Roche College.
It was the first section win of the season
for Butler (6-4, 1-3).
Dallas Hays went 3-for-4 at the plate with
two runs scored and two batted in. Connor Ollio added
a single, double and collected three RBI.
Cade Negley was
credited with the win on the mound, striking out seven and walking four in 4
2/3 innings.
The Tornado will face Seneca Valley, which
also earned its first section victory of the year Wednesday, at Kelly
Automotive Park Friday night.
