Butler runners win at SV

Butler's Sage Vavro won the boys cross country meet Tuesday at Seneca Valley with a time of 16 minutes, 14 seconds. The Golden Tornado's Autum Pettinato, right photo, won the girls race in 20:56,

Sage Vavro ran a time of 16 minutes, 54 seconds to place first as the Butler boys cross country team earned a sweep of Seneca Valley (19-39) and Pine-Richland (15-47).

Four of the top five finishers were Butler runners.

Slippery Rock's cross country teams improved to 2-0 Tuesday with victories over Sharpsville.

The Rocket boys won 19-40 as Kristian Sosa won the race in 19 minutes, 34 seconds. The girls claimed a 24-31 triumph as Harley Pflugh won the race in 22:26.

Slippery Rock runs at Grove City next Tuesday.
