Pittsburgh Area City vs. North All-Star football
game Zinkhann contributes...
11/25/02 - PITTSBURGH - With a busted wrist that wouldn’t let him play football
the way he wanted to play it, Travis Zinkhann improvised. Instead of using his
arms and hands at either tight end or linebacker for the Butler football team,
he would use his powerful right leg instead - as a kicker. “I didn’t have anything
else to do,” Zinkhann said. “And I love football.” So he turned back to his
training as a Golden Tornado soccer player and learned how to kick a football.
Saturday at the Pittsburgh Area City-North All-Star football game at Cupples
Stadium, Zinkhann harvested the fruit of his season of labor, kicking a 37-yard
field goal to help the North to a 24-3 win.

Butler 17, Shaler 14
Andy Fair scored two touchdowns as Butler opened
Quad North play with a victory over Shaler (0-1, 0-3). Butler built a 10-0 lead
on the strength of Fair's 5-yard touchdown run and a 40-yard field goal by
Travis Zinkhann. Shaler's Brandon McNearney returned the ensuing kickoff
97 yards for a touchdown, but Fair's second touchdown run gave Butler (1-0,
2-1) a 17-7 lead.
