Butler girls press way to road win
Tornado pick up 55-38 victory over McDowell in Erie
The Butler girls basketball team set out to get more possessions in a
non-section game against McDowell on the road Friday night.
The Golden Tornado pressed
and played up-tempo and got off to a hot start to beat the Trojans 55-38.
“We pressed more than we've
pressed all season,” said Butler coach Joe Lewandowski. “It was a tough road
game and it was big for us to get off to a good start.”
Butler (9-5) jumped out to
a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and led 32-16 at the half.
Jenna Kunst led the Golden
Tornado with 16 points and Kylee Lewandowski added 14.
Butler hit nine 3-pointers
in the game, seven in the first half.
Kylee Lewandowski hit four
of them.
It was a well-balanced win
for Butler. Mia Rader scored nine points on three 3-pointers and also had four
assists and Julia Gibson added seven points and eight rebounds.
“We limited their
second-chance points and getting off to that fast start was huge,” Coach
Lewandowski said.
