High school girls soccer all-stars

Ashton Graham
Senior
Position: Sweeper
Highlights: Four-year starter earned All-WPIAL honors as a senior, leading Butler to an appearance in the PIAA Class AAA championship game, a 1-0 loss to Owen J. Roberts. Graham was the leader of a defense that set a school record with 17 shutouts, breaking the mark of 14 set a year earlier. She also had five goals and two assists.

Position: Forward
Highlights: Four-year starter was the second all-time leading scorer in Butler history with 84 goals and 38 assists, including 30 goals and 12 assists as a senior. Tall, athletic offensive player earned All-WPIAL, all-state and regional all-star honors in leading Butler to an appearance in the state championship game.

Ashton Graham Graham paced Butler (21-2-2) with 2 goals in the second half
to catapult Butler to the PIAA State Championship game.


Two years after enduring a record-breaking loss in the PIAA finals, Butler fell because of an unlucky bounce.

Kelly Hilderbrand scored in double overtime to lead the Butler Golden Tornado (19-2-2)
to a 1-0 victory against District 10 champion Erie McDowell (17-4-2) at Erie Veterans Stadium.

Butler 1, McDowell 0 (2 OT) -- Kelly Hilderbrand scored just over a minute into the second overtime to lift the Butler Golden Tornado (20-2-2) to a first-round victory over McDowell (17-4-2) at Erie Veterans Stadium in the PIAA Class AAA playoffs. The Golden Tornado shut out Schenley (3-0) Saturday placing them in the Western PIAA Championship Game

-- Annie Lowry scored two goals and Elise McCaskey and Ashton Graham each scored one as Butler (17-1-2) defeated Chartiers Valley (18-4) in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs.

Butler - 1 USC - 0
The Golden Tornado topped Upper St. Clair in a shootout, 1-0, at Shaler. Butler outscored Upper St. Clair (15-6) in the penalty kick shootout, 3-1. Jenny Kienzle, Abby Schmidt and Elise McCaskey converted their shots for the Golden Tornado (18-1-2). Goalie Jess Onufer stopped two Upper St. Clair penalty kicks.


Butler - 4 Chartiers Valley - 0

The Golden Tornadoes will play Upper St. Clair (15-5) in the quarterfinals. The Panthers defeated Fox Chapel, 3-1, Monday. Butler shut out Chartiers Valley at home, 4-0. The Golden Tornado (17-1-2) got two goals from Annie Lowry and one apiece from Elise McCaskey and Ashton Graham. "We had great intensity and worked hard on both sides of the ball," Butler coach Marlene Peoples said.
