Move over Sam Snead... Jon (J.P.) Pratkanis fires a matching course record "65" at the Tam O'Shanter Invitational...

"Bogeying 2 holes with three putts from eight feet and missing a 3 foot putt for birdie were my only negative parts of my round today. Even with those putts the difference in my round today was the putting. I had 25 putts through 18 holes which has me believing that I must have brought my A-game today."-John Pratkanis 10-10-02

The 2002 Tam O'Shanter High School Invitational saw 28 teams in the field and a shotgun start. When all was said and done, the Golden Tornado was at the top of the heap. The highlight of the event was Butler's Jon (J.P.) Pratkanis course tying 65. The only other player to match such a feat was PGA legend Sam Snead. A plague honoring his remarkable round appears on the first tee. When this goldentornadosports staffer caught up with J.P. he had this to say..."Bogeying 2 holes with three putts from eight feet and missing a 3 foot putt for birdie were my only negative parts of my round today. Even with those putts the difference in my round today was the putting. I had 25 putts through 18 holes which has me believing that I must have brought my A-game today."(Officially noted however, by this goldentornadosports staffer is Butler's John Aubrey Sr. of Dubb's Dred who shot 64 in the not too distant past and may or may not be deservingly recognized.) J.P. bogeyed the last hole in regulation, the par 3 18th, or otherwise a plague restoration might be in order. The Golden Tornado shot yet another team record "294" the team sub 300 record score only accomplished once before in 21 years. Justin Kerr and Scott Cygan set the record pace with 78's respectively, while John Aubrey Jr. crused through the day with a 72. The Golden Tornado hopes to carry their hot team efforts when they travel to the WPIAL Team Championships on Tuesday October 15th at a course TBA.
