Gomez,
Snyder top runners
Butler's Evan Gomez and Danica Snyder were selected boys and girls runners of
the year by a vote of Butler County cross country coaches.
Gomez was the Golden Tornado's team MVP and is senior class president, sporting
a 4.029 grade point average. He finished 10th overall at the McDowell
Invitational in Erie, third overall at the Slippery Rock University
Invitational and 11th overall at the Central Catholic meet.
Gomez recorded a personal season-best of 16 minutes, 25 seconds while placing
10th in the WPIAL Championships.
Gomez finished 37th overall at the PIAA state meet, running a 16:51.
Snyder was the Tornado girls MVP and medaled in every invitational run this
year except for the state meet. The lone dual meet she lost was to North Hills.
Snyder carries a 3.487 GPA and has been accepted at Duquesne University. She
finished fourth overall at the McDowell Invitational, second overall at the SRU
Invitational and 10th overall at the Central Catholic Invitational.
Her personal best time of 19:901 this season occurred during her second-place
finish at the Tri-State Coaches meet. Snyder placed sixth at the WPIAL
Championships and was 40th at the PIAA meet.
