Luke Lombardo had 29 assists and Bill Roberts 13 kills as the Tornado blanked the Foxes 29-27, 27-25, 25-19.
Steve Hitchen added 31 passes and Andrew Shakely had four blocks for Butler.


Cody Moffatt managed 31 aces, Walter Santa had 15 kills and Bill Roberts 12 kills as the Butler boys volleyball team went 7-1 in the Hempfield Tournament. The Tornado finished third out of 14 teams.
Butler's junior varsity team finished first in an eight-team field.

Shawn Vincent tallied nine assists and Devin Koehring contributed seven kills as Butler (2-1) downed Hopewell in straight sets by scores of 27-25, 25-15 and 25-19.
The Golden Tornado also prevailed in the junior varsity match, 2-0
Shawn Vincent totaled eight serving aces and 14 assists while teammate Devin Koehring had eight kills as Butler swept Summit Academy by scores of 25-4, 25-15 and 25-12
Butler 3, Bethel Park 2— Devin Koehring had 12 kills and six blocks as the Tornado pulled out a 16-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-21, 15-11 victory against the Black Hawks.
Ryan Collins had 22 passes and Shawn Vincent added 28 assists for Butler.

Chris Falbo and Devin Koehring each managed 13 kills and Shawn Vincent tallied 29 assists as the Golden Tornado opened its season with a 3-0 victory over Avonworth by scores of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-13.

The Butler boys volleyball team found itself down not once, but twice at Penn Hills.
The second time, it was either win or go home for the Golden Tornado. Coach Lew Liparulo was pleased with the route his team took.
Butler prevailed 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 15-7 in a WPIAL Class AAA first-round playoff game.
"We were down two (games) to one," said Liparulo. "But our kids played hard.
"This was a seesaw game, but we never got rattled."
The Tornado (13-4) received seven service aces and 16 kills from Ricky Gonzalez, while Chris Falbo had five blocks and Shawn Vincent tallied 44 assists.

Rick Gonzalez had 20 kills and eight aces as the Butler boys volleyball team downed Shaler
25-20, 25-21 and 25-12.
Chris Erdos added 20 passes and Shawn Vincent 36 for the Golden Tornado (9-2, 6-1).

Shaun Vincent had 10 points to lead the Tornado to a 25-23, 25-16, 24-26, 25-21 victory. The Butler junior varsity team won 25-8, 25-6, 15-3.
The Butler boys volleyball team took second place in the North Hills Tournament.
The Golden Tornado swept through South Park, Deer Lakes and Elderton before splitting with Pine-Richland.
Butler then beat Avonworth in the tournament's semi-finals before losing to Hempfield in the championship by scores of 25-23, 25-23
