The Butler
Golden Tornado Wrestling team finished off its fine season by not only winning
the North Allegheny Tournament but also winning the team strength award! They edged out North Allegheny Gold for both
of these awards. The Junior High “GT”
brought 16 wrestlers to the tournament and brought home 13 medals.
Winning the
tournament for the Tornado were Ryan Hannon 165 lbs and Zack Weaver 185
lbs. Both guys moved up a weight class
to help the team and still were able to win their respective weight classes. Both Hannon and Weaver pinned their opponent
in the finals.
Placing
second for the Tornado were Connor Foust 75 lbs, Xavier Bennet
115 lbs, Will Bortmas 145 lbs, and Bryant Butler 210
lbs. Bryant Butler also moved up a
weight class for the benefit of the team and was able to place second.
Placing
third were Cody Houston 90 lbs, Korey Caudill 100
lbs, Jeremiah Bortmas 105 lbs, and Patrick Lokhaiser 155 lbs. Lokhaiser also moved up in weight class for the team and
was able to place 3rd.
Earning fourth
place finished for the Tornado were Kirk Gibson 110 lbs, Doug DeFrancisis 130 lbs, and Byron Minous
138 lbs.
The Golden
Tornado finished their season with a 14-1 dual match record. They placed 3rd at the Burrell
Duals, 3rd at the Shaler Titan Tournament, won the Butler Duals, and finished strong by
winning the NA tournament this past weekend.
