Last night the Golden Tornado Wrestling Team opened the 2010-2011 season with a 77-0 victory over Shaler. The Golden Tornado took advantage of five forfeits from the Titans and added six pins through 11 of the 14 weight classes. Recording pins for Butler were Xavier Bennett at 125, Jesse Sophn at 135, Eric Tuck at 145, Cole Baxter at 215, Tim Fulks at heavyweight, and Cody Houston at 103. Recording major decisions for Butler were Zach Reges and Doug DeFrancisis. Korey Caudill closed out the scoring with a 5-0 decision at 112 lbs. Butler will travel to Central Mountain High School tomorrow and participate in the King of the Mountain Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Forty-one teams will compete in the two-day tournament. The tournament will showcase many of the top individuals and teams in Pennsylvania in early season competition. Butler will open the season at home next Wednesday when they host Mars as they move up from AA to AAA for the first time.
