On Saturday the Butler Junior High Wrestling team defended their section title bringing home 1st place at the annual North Allegheny Tournament.  This years field included 18 teams.  The top five teams were Butler, General McClaine, Erie McDowell, Latrobe, and Hampton.  Butler has won this tournament 4 of the past 5 years.

The lone individual champion for Butler was Ryan Hannon at 165 lbs.  He used an escape in the ride out overtime to win 2-1.

Placing 2nd for the “GT” were Hugh O’Neil at 75 lbs and Jeremiah Bortmas at 130 lbs.

Bringing home 3rd place finishes were Will Bortmas at 155 lbs, Alex White at 185 lbs, and Austin George at 250 lbs.

David Slomers placed 4th for the tornado.

The Junior High “GT” will return to action Wednesday night when they face off against a very tough Franklin Regional team who placed above Butler at the GLOW tournament.  This should be a very close and very exciting match.  The match starts at 5:00 at the intermediate high school gym.  Varsity will wrestle Franklin Regional  (4th place finisher in WPIAL tournament) afterwards at 7:00.
