Indoor 2005
Malecky wins 800 meters
Butler's Amanda Malecky won
the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 24.30 seconds Saturday during the Tri-State
Track Coaches Association's Championship indoor meet at Robert
Morris University. The Golden Tornado placed third in the overall team competition
with 53 points. Sarah Thiebaud placed
second in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 2 inches. Kendall
Butch was second in the pole vault at 11-7. Butler's 3,200-meter
relay team of Tess Crispin, Amanda Bresnehan,
Jess Tomsey and Malecky also placed second. Thiebaud was
third in the high jump at 5-2, Emily Chiappini was
fourth in the pole vault at 10-1 and Bresnehan was
fourth in the 800 at 2:29.0. Butch was
sixth in the high jump at 5-0.
Ten Butler athletes qualify for State Indoor
Track Championships at Penn State University.
Girls qualifiers include Butch and Chiappini in
the pole vault, Malecky in
the 800 meters, Thiebaud in
the high jump and triple jump and Lea Renwick in
the 55 meters.

State Indoor Track Championships
Kendall Butch broke the school record with a second place
jump of 12’7” at the Penn
State Indoor State Championship and is currently ranked as
the #5 female high school
pole vaulter in the US. She also qualified to participate in the Nike
Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held March 12 and 13 in Andover,
Maryland. Emily Chiappini placed
sixth in the pole vault at the indoor state championship with a vault of 11’0”.
